From what I have heard (from anonymous sources, of course), many teams at the past two regionals claimed to have amazing skill at certain aspects of the game, but were actually unsure of their true capabilities.  It is good to have an idea of what your robot can do "in theory", but that is completely separate from what your robot can do "in reality".  Teams should know themselves, and if possible, know everyone else too.  A great aspect of FIRST is the ability to walk around the pits and ask teams exactly what their robot can do.  You don't have to wait until you are already paired with someone before you know what their robot can do.  Also, team members that are spectators from the stands should also get a good idea of how well certain robots perform. The practice rounds are a great time for all to determine a robot's "true" abilities.  I encourage all teams to display gracious professionalism throughout times like these;  it will help everyone succeed.
